How EFT can help process some of that overwhelm and stress

Maria attended my Work Stress Spring Clean – a series of four weekly 1 hour EFT workshops. Not only did we focus on a different element of work stress each session – from difficult colleagues to those dreaded imposter feelings – but we learnt to use EFT as we went along. This is what Maria says about the impact of the Work Stress Spring Clean:

“The EFT programme has had a very positive effect on my mental health. It’s only in the last four years that the pressures of life and work have toppled my mental health precariously, it’s been a really bad time on top of Covid19.

I tried to manage these pressures and have tried a range of DIY self-help techniques along the way, each helping a little bit, but still leaving me with overwhelm. Skipping from one technique or approach such a lot over this time left me feeling that I couldn’t get out of the vicious cycle of overwhelm – I’d tried and failed so many times.

I’d stayed in touch with Jen from previous workshops and whilst I’m self-employed and not currently a team leader, I still saw the great potential of participating in guided EFT to help me turn things around. It’s a technique I’d not come across before. Enrolling on the programme has changed my approach to self-help. Rather than flitting from one technique to another, it’s given me the opportunity to try this technique out consistently in a four session programme, led by Jen who practices EFT personally and professionally, so the group was guided confidently and professionally.

The results of every session percolated beyond the webinars. I personally have turned a huge corner in my overwhelm as a result of this technique. I’m making better and clearer decisions, with far less procrastination. I’m a hundred times more accepting of myself – flaws, anxieties, failures, strengths, good qualities and all. I don’t think I’ve ever done this before, I didn’t realise how important it is to do this or how to do it.

I forgive myself now, rather than just forgiving others. I feel quite emotional as I say this, it’s a very powerful thing. I’ve always thought I should try to be perfect and reach other people’s expectations at work and in my personal life.

Since starting the programme I’ve also learnt to examine and move on from how I feel about difficult relationships and situations, past and present – working through it all will take some time. Jen often uses the words in EFT ‘I wonder what it would feel like to let go of these feelings by just 1%, I wonder what I could do with 1% extra headspace’. Well, I’ve let go of far more than 1% of the negative feelings I’d accumulated in recent years during the programme and practicing the technique on my own. I have tasted what I can do with this extra headspace – and it’s delicious! I think this is a technique I won’t be flitting from any time soon. Thanks so much Jen for sharing your knowledge in such a supportive way.”
