Organisations, and the employees who work for them, need emotional intelligence more than ever.
We work in global teams and markets which require excellent relationship management and an insight into why we, and those around us, behave as we do.
Typically team building might focus on a personality diagnostic which will tell us things like to what degree we enjoy working with people, or on our own, or whether we have a natural drive for organising or not. This is useful, but personality is relatively fixed, whereas, with insight and coaching support, business emotional intelligence can be built upon to create highly effective leaders.
Business Emotional Intelligence is a practical, work based approach to Emotional Intelligence that helps individuals and teams understand why people behave the way they do and how to maximise their engagement with, and performance at, work.
I am accredited in the Emotions and Behaviours at Work (EBW) diagnostic, which focuses on the key behavioural traits which are indicators in successful leaders: decisiveness, motivation, influence, adaptability, empathy, conscientiousness, stress resilience and self awareness.
The EBW tool works for individual leadership development and to boost performance of a specific team or a group of individuals within the same organisation. An individual report can be used as the basis of a leadership coaching programme lasting between for between 6 and 10 sessions. A specific team report can be generated which, as well as giving insight to individuals, maps how team members might be relating to each other in specific contexts, and how work is currently getting done. This sets the scene for some transformational work focusing on team effectiveness. Scroll down to see a summary of the model.
